Why Do We Say "Thank You" When...

Okay, headed in a new direction today, so bare with me. Bear with me? I have no idea. Nogh idea?
Anyway...

We say thank you for many occasions. We even mean it sometimes. 😁🤣

To acknowledge being blessed for a sneeze.

In response to a held door, a colleague delivering mail, or any number of scenarios.

But why in the everloving hell do we say "thank you" to the person ahead of us when they come out of the bathroom stall as we exchange places at the door?

Have they warmed up the toilet seat for us?

Perfectly lined up the toilet paper?

Provided some good juju for our coming urinary and bowel performance?

I mean, SERIOUSLY, what the hell?

The only thing I can figure we are thanking them for is vacating the premises because we cannot wait one single minute longer and are doing a serious pee pee dance that's about to become the wet pant tango.

What say you?
